Alcoholic Devil written in 1999 for Keystone Garden
Consider the agony of the wild woodpeckers
As they try to animate their damned ancestors
Shall they attempt to bluff the alcoholic devil
or perchance the sacred badger of Buddha
Does the anguish of the sanctified salami spread
Or does it adorn the comedy of their country men
Where the ogling minstrels are alienated
Alas alienated by the mortal masterpiece of the unknown
And bejeweled baskets dazed by the frivolous forefinger of criminals
And could not the bewitched asylum bless the dreams of the embalmed tenants
Could the camels anoint the alter with the ashes and entrails of their flaming offspring
